INDYCAR Damper Technician

Terms: Full-Time

Special Requirements: Travel, including all INDYCAR NTT Series races.

Job Location: Indianapolis, IN.

 

Job Description

As the Damper Technician, you will be building, servicing, and testing dampers for the Race Team cars. In addition, you will be involved in the damper development process including attending Team 7 post rig tests. This role demands close attention to detail, and a sound understanding of the methods and processes required in building and testing dampers.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Damper Build and Event Preparation:

  • Be responsible for the build, maintenance and preparation of dampers and damper related components pre/post and during events, as part of the Damper Team

  • Keep up to date inventory on consumable Damper Department items.

  • Organize springs/shims for each car and for each session.

  • Keep up to date inventory on consumable damper items.

Dyno and rig Testing and Validation:

  • Conduct Dyno testing and validations, employing analysis software.

  • Attend team 7 post rig tests in support of the damper development program

Pit-Lane Presence:

  • Work on the timing stand during sessions to propose and execute innovative ideas on damper adjustments and options.

  • Adjust and record damper settings and assist with damper/spring changes during the event session.

  • Work with Race Engineer to prepare damper/spring options

Project Participation:

  • Within the engineering group, actively participate in specific projects related to the Damper Department.

  • Contribute directly to Car Performance through damper development.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in damper building, development and testing within the motorsports industry.

  • Proficient in Dyno testing and ability to use software analysis tools.

  • Strong organizational skills and exemplary attention to detail and quality.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
